The Lancaster County Voter Registration & Election Commission is where you register
to vote. If you have recently moved into the county, you can register to vote in
person at the office on Main Street. Be sure to bring a valid South Carolina Driver's
License with your current address and your Social Security Card. There are also
several motor voter agencies throughout the county, including the State Highway
Department and the Department of Social Services. You can download
a mail-in form. Simply fill it out and mail it to the address on the form.
The qualifications for voting are as follows:
- You must be a citizen of the United States and South Carolina.
- A resident in the county and voting precinct in which you are registered to vote.
- Be at least 18 years of age as of the next election.
- Not be under any court order declaring you mentally incompetent.
- Not serving a term of imprisonment resulting from a conviction of a crime
- Not have been convicted of a felony or offense against the Election Laws.
You can register to vote at any time but in order to be eligible, you must be registered
30 days prior to any particular election.
We are also responsible for insuring that elections are carried out according to
state and federal laws. We are always looking for people interested in being Poll
Managers. Managers are required to attend training and to work on Election Day for
which they will received some compensation. If you would like to be a Poll Manager,
